Biography:

Memphis Monroe debuted in pro wrestling in 1997.  He's wrestled under many names and gimmicks over the years in numerous territories with some of wrestling's top stars.  With his style rooted in old school "Memphis Style" wrestling,  In 2014, he decided it was time to go back to his roots and bring back all the old school tricks he's learned over the years from the legends of Memphis Wrestling.  In the style of the famous masked wrestlers of Memphis' past such as the Assassins, Interns, Fire & Flame, and the list goes on and on....he decided to don a mask for this new venture.  As a tribute to a true Memphis legend, he took on the last name of Sputnik Monroe and the first name of Memphis for obvious reasons.  Besides the masked wrestlers, Memphis Monroe has taken influences from some of his favorite wrestlers over the years...namely the late great "Hot Stuff" Eddie Gilbert, Austin Idol, Jimmy Valiant, Jerry "the King" Lawler, Tommy Rich, "Superstar" Bill Dundee, and in more recent years the late "Sweet & Sour" Larry Sweeney was a huge influence on "the Mega Star".  Many dirty tricks that worked for wrestlers for years have seemingly been lost in times but have now been brought back by Monroe, such as....the "loaded" boot & mask, the heart punch, and the "asiatic spike" made famous by Terry Gordy.   In true old school Memphis fashion, Monroe claims to have the best strut in the business since Jackie Fargo himself made it famous.

In January, the man behind the mask debuted as the newly christened "Mega Star" in a two night tourmament to crown the first ever Twin States (Alabama/Mississippi) Champion in which he won and strutted out of the arena with the championship belt.  Monroe then made his way in February to Tupelo, Mississippi to make his debut for Mississippi Ultimate Wrestling Association where he won the M.U.W.A. Heavyweight Championship from Neil 'the Real Deal' Taylor.  Memphis Monroe said these two events kicked off what he's referring to as the 2014 Mega Star World Tour.   Memphis Monroe will be coming to a town near you and make sure you are there to see it.  If he's not scheduled to come to your area then give your local promoter the link to this site so they can contact him and get him to your town.

The story is "to be continued" and will update this bio section as the story unfolds.  Memphis has a few big things lined up that we can't announce yet but should be exciting for his fans when they're able to be discussed.  So check back often and tell your friends to go like Memphis Monroe on Facebook and Twitter and if you love old school wrestling the way the "Mega Star" does....go check out the Cheap Heat TV Youtube Page

Remember like Memphis Monroe says...."Pro Wrestling has thousands of "Superstars", but only ONE...MEGA STAR!"
